Hello everybody,

I've got one of those Hantek DSO5102P oscilloscopes and suddenly when I try to turn it on it just keeps ticking(probably from a relay) and wont boot

I've checked the physical shape of the PSU capacitor and fuses and every thing seems fine.

what should I do now(considering I dont have an ESR meter but a multi meter?

Send it in for repair under warranty assuming it is still under warranty?

Sorry for that,
I bet for
1 power supply
2 firmware

Yeah probably the power supply checked the voltages and all were below the specified on the silk screen but accidentally layed it on my metal shielding and blew up some traces(and the small transformer probably went bed because it was slightly hot after turning the main's fuse on so it's dead for sure. Any idea where I can find a new one? it supplys the voltages 3.3V, 5V, 14V, -8V and 12V for the fan

It may be ok, i  would check mosfet and power management IC first.

I think the mosfet and power management is integrated type [in the TOP246YN]. [assuming pinouts are the same]

Because you will be dealing with high lethal voltages in the power supply section, are you able to handle it? Do you know how to handle high voltage? What kind of tools do you have now?

If you don't, it would be better to send to the repair shop. [for your safety]

However if you are able then;

What kind of voltages are you getting? It would be helpful to know.

For example;

J2 Pin 2 = ? volts;

J905 Pin 2 = ? volts;
J905 Pin 4 = ? volts;
J905 Pin 6 = ? volts;
J905 Pin 1 = ?    [use a logic probe, should be a pulse train at line frequency]

J906 Pin 3 and Pin 4 = ? volts;
J906 Pin 6 = ? volts;

Edit: Then unplug the above connectors and measure the power supply board again. So there should be 2 sets of values for above.

When I connected it to power again it blew up a small soldered fuse so I don't think so.

Now I don't think I is worth messing around with it I screwed it up looking to buy a new one but can't find it I contacted Hantek and they don't respond...

What a waste. That is not a difficult power supply, all integrated into TOP246YN.

But for your safety, don't try. Put it up on ebay and recoup some $ for your new scope.

I can't see that IC there and I'm not going to create so much E waste and waste so much money for the cheapest replaceable component of this system.
