High voltage power supply repair for cash
« on: November 05, 2017, 03:53:50 pm »
High voltage power supply potential fixing?

If anyone is in the Los Angeles area and wants to help I can offer some money out of pocket. Honestly, don't want to kill myself trying to bite off more than I can chew trying to fix it.

Below are some pics.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that's not a high voltage power supply but just the controls for one.
It's missing a transformer and all the other high voltage parts, i'd assume they're connected via that 8-pin connector on the back.
Trying to learn english, if I make any mistakes feel free to correct me!

Hmmm not sure. Thanks. I'll ask around but I know it is an older style with vacuum tubes so older stuff.

Thats what I was thinking too. You have a control panel for a supply there.

Also, be aware that very high voltage is quite dangerous.

Note the very bright indicator light, lock, etc.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like I'll stick to my previous setup with flyback.

That's true, it's an older model, but even with the magic of tubes you can't create high voltage without a transformer or something similar  ;)

A bit of searching came up with this:
Field Emission Corp High Voltage Supply Model 3145

Have to agree, it looks like a controller for a larger system. The main give-away is there are no high voltage terminals to be seen anyway other than a multi pin cable connector. The unit probably connects to a main generator unit which then does all the high voltage stuff.
