Hitachi Mainboard Replacement -- numbers not exactly the same
« on: August 14, 2014, 08:03:46 pm »
I'm trying to repair a Hitachi LCD television.  It's an ultravision, model number L42S504.  I followed the troubleshooting procedure in the service manual, and it says to replace the mainboard.  I made some attempts to repair the mainboard, but was unsuccessful.

The power supply board seems to work fine, and if I use a jumper to put 5v to the PS_ON pin, the backlight turns on and I can get 12v and 24v from the power supply.

So I decide to replace the mainboard, which has model number 715G3269-M01-003-005K.  Here are two pics of the dead board in my TV.

When I look up this number on ebay, I no matches.  However, if I just search for 715G3269, I get several matches like that look like the right board, but the number on them is 715G3269-1.  For example, http://www.ebay.com/itm/INSIGNIA-or-HITACHI-MAIN-BOARD-715G3269-1-/301275415503?pt=US_TV_Boards_Parts_Components&hash=item46256a03cf

I don't know much about board naming conventions--I don't know if this board on ebay, the 715G3269-1, is a new revision that will work fine or if it won't work.  Do you guys have any advice?

Thanks.

M.S.

At that price I'd take the gamble. What can possibly go wrong?

Same board, maybe minor differences like languages, revision, mfg site. Likely TV will become a different model with some features enabled/disabled. That part number actually is used in many models. Would be useful to find how to enter service menu to change settings to the right/similar model.
Edit:
Actually I can see differences in voltage regulators, but IMO should be compatible.

typically if the connectors are the same it will be a direct drop in.
