HP 54502A saving calibration with battery change?
« on: December 11, 2018, 12:11:46 am »
Picked up a super clean HP 54502A scope cheap. Bought it assuming it was not functioning. Turns out, it was just a bad contact in the power switch. Anyways, the date code on that Dallas chip is 1992 and evidently, the battery still works. Was gonna dremel in a new external battery and wondered if I should try to save the calibration settings with a TL866A programmer? The calibration seems spot on and didn't know if it recalibrates itself with a new battery or I should save the memory?
Thanks!

Either way. You can back up the memory, but it can also self calibrate with only a BNC cable.
