KA3005P Display Error
« on: April 25, 2018, 03:01:54 pm »
Hello,

I hope you can help.

After reading about the KA3005P and the amazing story concerning the hardware fix done by KORAD I bought 2 power supplies.
One of them worked without any issues until today.
If I switch on the PS I can see the display readout like in the attached picture.
I checked and cleared all the connections between the main display board and the display unit in the front.
After that it worked for 5 mins and then failed again.

Any hints, tips, solutions?
Thank you very much.

Regards,
Andy

Hello,

I just forgot to add the PS is working fine beside the display issue.

If you setup voltage (you have to guess a little bit) and current and press OUT everything is ok.

Andy

Since disturbing it made it work briefly, I'd suspect a bad solder joint on the display board.  Try applying pressure to the PCB with something insulated (e.g. a plastic pen, screwdriver handle etc.) whilst the unit is operating to see if you can narrow it down.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked all the PCB in the front of the device including the re-soldering of the connections between the main board and the display board. No changes. I assume that something in the path for the voltage selection is broken. Current can be set without any issues.

Andy

I have the same problem.
It came up when i tried to calibrate the PS via the M4 button.
It also seems that the PS is now in the wrong version mode (15Volt Device)

Has anyone instructions how to calibrate propperly or
how to set corret version/mode or
how to reset to factory settings?

Many thanks for the swift document link!  :-+

I already had this information from an other post.
Unfortunately this procedure is outdated and the mentioned M1 button is no longer responsive
I guess the M4 has to be pressed instead but this is risky! KEEP away from this calibration stuff !!!
I ended up with totally messing up the settings in the KA3005P.
And i have no idea how to get this fixed.

Any help is appreciated.
