LG42LD750 Smart TV
« on: December 03, 2014, 03:53:58 pm »
Hi,
our LG TV has a problem with the mainboard. There are often white lines on the screen when the device is started.
I have checked with spray and discovered, that the problem is very strong when cooling the processor (LGE3556C) or when pressing it with my fingers.
This is a BGA, has anyone tried to replace or to reball and resolder it? And, did it work?
The mainboard EBU60844952 of my LG is obsolete, and so I failed in buying a new or even a used one.
Do you think there is a real chance to get it work again?

might be rohs solder cracking/whiskers, might be chip itself
wont hurt to reflow this chip (without reballing), jam flux around the chip, put board on preheater, wait till it gets up to ~150 and heat that chip until it floats

another ghetto option is

Who logs in to gdm? Not I, said the duck.
My fireplace is on fire, but in all the wrong places.

Better V59 which adds usb media support in some form and doesn't cost much more:

I can reflow it (without removing IC) for free on IR station if you pay shipping both ways. Don't guarantee anything though. Shipping back is 6.50 Eur for items below 1 Kg if any interest.
