I have a design drawn out on paper ( 1980s ) from my deceased civil engineer father ( +2011 ) which used the HP 1N6609, 1N6610, and 1N6611 TO-46 gold cased LEDs. The 1N6609 is red, the 1N6610 is yellow, and the 1N6611 is green. Each LED had a simple current limiting resistor in series with it ( I believe it was 470 ohms 5% ) for a standard 9V battery. I would like to build his circuit. However, I was wondering if anyone knows of a "general public" source for these devices. There are a number of industry sites which claim to have stock of them, but they are the North American "broker" sites, some are major well-known names. I was wondering if anyone knows of a business that is willing to sell a reasonable amount ( e.g. 4 of each color ). I've never dealt with any
of these "broker" sites before, and I am wondering which one(s) the community knows that help forum members who are not businesses.
HP also made a far more common and smaller version of these LEDs with different specifications, which are somewhat easy to find. They are 1N6092 ( red ), 1N6093 ( yellow ), and 1N6094 ( green ). These devices come in TO-46 packages, but have lower If ratings and less light output. I had no trouble finding them from a known legitimate US eBay business, but what about the 1N6609-11 series types?
