Hello everyone. I've recently obtained an XPS 18 tablet that didn't power on. It tried, but it would instantly shut off. Removing the HDD made it at least spin the fan for half a second. Anyway, I've discovered the fault, and its one of two diodes on what appear to be part of the power input/switching circuitry.
Its the rightmost black square, one side looked a little iffy.
I bypassed it with a very messy soldering job, and the damn machine actually POSTs, so I'm almost certain its the fault.
Now I need to figure out what the heck it is. It must be a diode of some sort, all four pins on each side are commoned together, and in one direction, read a voltage drop of 0.200v and in the other, infinite.
The part reads 1317 with a sideways SIF to the left of it.
I'd love to get this machine working properly, so if you guys could help me find a replacement part, that would be awesome.
