Opinion on LCD TV Panel damage
« on: May 17, 2017, 01:08:39 am »
Today i noticed that my parent's tv has this "stain" on the screen. It wasn't there yesterday and both denied having hit the screen with something.

Is this really impact damage or is there another possible cause?

The tv is an old 2007 Samsung 46'' IPS LCD.

Certainly looks unusual for impact damage but can't rule it out. In any case the set is toast. Time for a new one. Samsung is still good.

Looks to me like moisture damage or the panel is delaminating, likely due to a manufacturing defect. I agree that replacement is probably the only option.

That's not an impact, that is either pressure or moisture. Panel replacement is only option, not worth it even if the part is available. Buy a non-working set of the same model and product code and use the parts in this set to fix it or buy a new TV and chuck this one.
