Parts exchange
« on: January 24, 2017, 10:26:02 am »
How many of you has been forced to buy more than one chip (or other parts) when you only need one and most probably you will never need again in your entire life?
Everybody here that is repairing stuff is full of parts that are "rare" and most probably stay on some drawer forever.
Is there any parts exchange web site out there that will solve this problems to access rare parts in small quantity and with acceptable prices?

I have bought several ICs on ebay and never had a problem. I would not buy capacitors and if you buy resistors you can always check them before installing them. I have been buying when I see offers in a web site called electronics goldmine, seems to have decent quality and low prices.

Well guys I'm not talking about resistors or capacitors.
I'm talking mainly of some esoteric IC ...

I've bought loads of parts on ebay, everything from simple passive parts to esoteric and hard to find ICs. Out of hundreds of transactions I think I've only been burned once with some EEPROMs that turned out to be something else. Not even sure what they were, the nice shiny black and printing washed right off in acetone.
