Repair Keithley 6517A
« on: January 20, 2018, 03:54:46 pm »
Hello,
We need help to give suggestion with a 6517A. It is for GBIP volume resistance Sweep test.
Recenty we forget to turn the switch to 230 volts while it is plugged into 230V source. So had the transformer burned with several Sk 1412s, 2N 3904s, and LH1540s, Zeners, and big capacitors.  (450V 500uF).
After I changed these parts, (ordered new transformer from Keithley) the V souce stays the same as somewhat around 141 V,  no matter what voltage you change.
The Rv feedback calculated from sweep software seems correct.
There is also GBIP Sweep SOFTware PHOTO that I took to help understanding the situations. Please advise me how to do next.
THANKS!

Not sure I can help but are all of the replaced parts from known good suppliers? I believe someone repaired their 6517(A) using parts from eBay that turned out to be bad. I think these were the SK 1412.

These meters can be quite dangerous as you have discovered. I am hesitant to

I have two in different stages of repair. One had a burnt out transformer and the front panel was arcing on the 60v supply across vias. The 200v supply rectifier bridge was also shorted and overheating. The transformer is very expensive, even by Keithley standards.

You are right about the Sk1412s. I googled these parts they seem to be out of production from sanyo for quite sometime. Plus Sanyo semicon has been merged by some other company. Any suggestion on how to get replacable or other equals? Seems all the k1412 from market are pulled parts.
Thanks

this one may do the trick:  NDFPD1N150C
An assertion ending with a question mark is a brain fart.
