Title: Repairing a drill battery charger.
Post by: Bashstreet on December 03, 2017, 01:00:05 am
Hallo allo.

My battery charger has gone kaput it shows 5.2 volts when it should give 15.6 dc 500 mA 7.5VA

I cracked it open and suspect the filter cap is gone  :box:

Checked diodes etc .

Question is it has 100uf 35v cap. (output)

As i do not have 100uf caps at that voltage atm but larger ones 1000 uf. Can i use one of those ? :scared:

Hi there,

Any pictures? That would help a lot to figure out what kind of power supply we have there. Is it switching power supply or a linear one. Does it have any charging control circuit (dedicated or MCU based). After we found out that, we can try to troubleshoot it step by step.

What type of battery does it use?

Thank you for answering.

I am now using another power supply as i found out the linear transformer was the issue
I discarded it as non feasible repair.  :horse:
