Recently, I pulled a power supply board out of a smashed Samsung LCD tv. The rest of the TV's junk, but the power supply board is in good condition. No cracks, everything looks fine. I plug it in into the mains, (US) and measure the output on the pin headers, red probe on 24V, black probe on GND. Nothing. 0V. Multimeter's set on 200DC, should be fine. I check the 5V out put in the same way. Nothing. Ok, I check the fuse. Fuse's blown. Grab some new ones (250V, 5A), pop em in, and measure again. Still, nothing. Again, I check the fuse, it's blown. WTF? All the caps look good, no bulges, they're United Chemi-Con brand capacitors. The board in general looks good, no obvious faults. I'm at a loss here as to why the fuse keeps blowing.
I'll post some hi-res pics once the camera's battery charges.
