hi all, I have a sencore scope that has started acting up. when I hook up a probe to either chanel a or b I get a 160mvpp signal at 2.4khz. have tried different probes, even just a straight wire, with the same results.this occurs with no connection to anything. can someone help. have checked filters in power supply. are o.k. I have another scope to use for troubleshooting. it seems like the probe wire is acting like an antenna. help plz.

Does it behave this way using a probe (direct or x10) on a circuit under test? Or connecting to the probe compensation tab on the front?

Open probes ARE like an antenna - they pick up all sorts of crap.

hi, and thanks for replying. I think I fixed it. I changed every electrolytic I could see. it seems to be working. I really like this scope, and hope its fixed.

Glad that worked out for you. I grind my teeth when I hear "re-capping" so damn much, but sometimes it does work.
