Strange resistor code
« on: November 03, 2015, 02:49:49 am »
Just pulled a scorched resistor out of an amp I'm fixing and the code has me stumped. It's red/brown/gold/gold/violet.

I *think* it might be a 0.2 ohm flameproof fusible resistor but I need a second brain to confirm that for me if possible. It's in a fan circuit and seems to have gone open circuit and been scorched, so that kind of adds up to me but I'm not certain.

Thoughts?

For what it's worth, I am pretty certain that you're correct in it being a 0.2 Ohm flameproof fusible resistor.

First two bands being the digit, third band is multiplier, fourth band the tolerance, fifth is the quality band...

Edit: Are you able to post a photo of it or is it too far gone to be of any help?

Thanks guys, it's looking confirmed between that stuff and some circuit tracing I did to see what would make sense to be there. New ones are already on the way, gotta love free delivery from RS for a handful of 30 cent parts, haha
