Tenma 72-1030 Oscilloscope
« on: March 02, 2016, 03:50:45 am »
So I just got a really good deal on a Tenma 72-1030 4ch. 100MHz Oscilloscope. The outside is a little rough, but it looks good on the inside and all the buttons and knobs seem to work. ch. 3 & 4 seem to work pretty good, but 1 & 2 might be a little funky. There seems to be some intermittent problems, but considering the age and outside condition its probably just some worn solder joints. Now I've been searching for some manuals or other info but haven't had much luck, so if any of you guys have some info that would be really great. Also any help on some calibration tests I should do would be very helpful. Seems like this is going to be a nice first scope :).

I would send an email to MCM Electronics Customer Service and request a manual.
https://www.mcmelectronics.com/content/en-US/contact
They have sent me manuals and schematics for some of my older Tenma gear.
You need at LEAST one working o'scope to repair an o'scope, and you need SEVERAL working multimeters (digital & analog) to repair another multimeter! Not to mention EVERYTHING ELSE!

Welcome to the forum.

Better cabling will result in a cleaner waveform display and use only enough trace brightness to get your job done.  ;)

CRT screen burn can be the outcome of continual high brightness settings.

Enjoy your new (old) CRO.  :)

I realize your posting is old, but I just got a used TENMA 72-1030A. I've been searching for a user manual, but so far not any luck. I saw your post asking for the same, so I am wondering if you had  any luck and can point me to where I might find one. The link that gearhead sent didn't work, unfortunately.
