Vizio E241-A1
« on: March 14, 2018, 01:58:00 am »
I really need help here, please and thank you. Original problem, would not turn on.
Screen is fine, worked when i last used it and got a visible confirmation when working on it.
I then replaced the power supply board, no change and it acted odd when i plugged in the digital board.
Replaced the digital board, and it has made progress. I can now turn it on but the screen doesn't come on and it won't turn off without unplugging it.

Power supply is new, the main board is tested and warrantied.

Without digital board 5.2V measured as 5.25V and the 16V measured as 15.6V
With digital board 5.2V measured as 5.138V and the 16V measured as 18V

Electroparts, a company who warrantied it.

With the panel completely disconnected, that is to say both plugs unplugged, yes it does. Just checked it.

Well, one of the two is bad, supply or logic board. Its easier to confirm supply and I assume you already did that, Im guessing you got a bad logic board.

Well i can only confirm the 5V and 16V, no clue what comes out the other pin header and even if i did i can't make it turn on. But given the supply is new and the digital board ain't should i try to return the digital board? Or just give up on the thing?

Maybe, maybe not. It is crusty due to my repair attempts.

I think not turning on = death for these things.  :(
