Weller WECP-20 repair
« on: August 05, 2016, 09:02:40 pm »
I got my weller from a flea market for 10 bucks and i don't feel like buying a new hand-piece, the thermistor and heating element both died today.

I know that both Weller and Hakko use thermistors, i would like to keep the station but replace the hand-piece with a hakko one.

Would appreciate if someone could poke their Weller thermistor with an ohm meter, Hakko ones are about 50 ohms at room temp.

Thanks.

About 22\$\Omega\$ according to the service manual.

Thanks.
Seems like i'll need to do some mods to fit the Hakko iron to the weller station.
Weller thermistor gains about 7.73 ohms per 100oC, while Hakko one gains about 20ohms per 100oC.
Should not be too difficult to mod, as long as i can get it to maintain 300oC i'll be happy.
