Trace from the antenna/cable input. All modern TVs use SDR based tuners so its just going to be an IC.

You need better lighting in your photos.

Condolences if you're trying to do anything besides watch video on that model. I hear the input lag is really bad.

Looks like you might have already torn off the RF cable connector. Hard to see any more, since that spot is in deep shadow in your pictures.
There's no television license in the USA, so why do you care?

No, it was there once. You can see the tool marks left when it was removed. The RF connector would have been integral to the shield, so it's gone too.

yep, RF connector and shield are gone.
Sorry about the lighting in the prev pics - here are much clearer close ups.
Here are some better pics of the IC's - which one would the tuner be
I'm guessing the first pick is of the tuner - let me know what you think

The tuner chip and its immediate environs look as if there are some issues with two capacitors one is clearly not soldered properly and is touching its neighbor..

Maybe there has been some damage done because of that?  Also, was that TV maybe on a boat where it was exposed to salt spray (conductive and corrosive) and or seagull poop? (highly acidic)

In any case its impossible to read the markings on that chip properly, maybe you could clean it off with some IPA, or distilled water so that the label is visible (also to verify its physical integrity)

Looks like perhaps it might be missing a chunk?

It's not a soldering issue...it's mechanical damage from a screwdriver. I'd say the solder joints on that cap are intact, it's just that the traces have been pulled off the board. Notice the case tabs are torn off, not unsoldered, with visible board damage on some holes. The dent on the crystal and the marks on the IC are probably from a screwdriver using them as leverage points. Looks like the chip was crushed enough that the entire corner cracked off...it's probably a dead chip now.

I'd agree. Those tuner cans aren't easy to get off for someone that hasn't done it very often. That tuner is pretty common on newer low-end TVs, Westinghouse, Sceptre, Seiki, etc...

Previously they had the electronics in the tuner can, I think last year was the first one I saw of this type. I keep a few of the cans in stock(I pull them off bad boards), I can ship one to you (OP) but you have to pay shipping...and I don't guarantee it will work when you put it on because of the damage.
