I just came across a hack for hacking ATTEN ADS1062CAL to 100Mhz, but it is in Russian and google translator is kinda sux... can someone help me on the translation!!!

I also want to clarify that he just flash firmware from Siglent SDS-1102CML without soldering the ram chip? or did he put the chip in and flash the firmware?

First part describes how he was hunting for PCB pictures etc, result: ATTEN ADS1062CAL has same PCB as Siglent SDS-1102CML, but no IS61LPS51236A-200TQLI installed.

Then he had flashed Siglent SDS-1102CNL firmware+config into his ATTEN ADS1062CAL (original FW version: 3.01.01.31; HW version: 6-41-2.1), so it became an SDS106X model (nonexistent in Siglent's catalog). Now his scope works faster, some adjustment-related bugs/lags had disappeared, but a new bug was introduced: in dual channel mode, waiting sync on CH1, trigger occurs -> no CH1 line drawn sometimes. Workaround: change horizontal scale +-, restart trigger.

His conclusions: Now it's possible to use Siglent's updates (ATTEN releases no updates?). Why SDS106X, not SDS1102CNL? Is there any hw difference? Future plans: get and install IS61LPS51236A-200TQLI and post the results.

And he not received RAM chip yet, so no way for him to solder it

Hi,

my Atten ADS1062CAL hacked to 100Mhz works like a charm (also with the last July 2015 CNL Siglent firmware) ... but..  the scope is still at 60 Mhz, not 100.

You can check it, considering that the 100 Mhz model has a Time/DIV to 2,5 ns and the ADS1062CAL hacked has only the 5 nS option.

Any ideas ?

Problem:  After the update from Atten firmware to the latest Siglent firmware I could find, June 30, 2015,   SDS1000CML_SSP_V100R005B01D02P32.ADS   if you goto the acquire settings, the Sa Rate is now fixed at 500.0MSa  not 1GSA as before this upgrade.  Also this firware is not as colorful.

Does anyone know what features/specification adding the  IS61LPS51236A-200TQLI  chip does?  I added it (I got at Mouser, a friend at work that normally solders these kind of surface mount chips did the soldering) but I really don't see any new features that are not in the ATTEN manual.  We have a similar scope at work, different manufacturer, but with it you can store either the data shown on screen, or the whole stored waveform, which is quite larger.  Storing waveforms seemed to make no difference than before chip.  While I had the MB out, I notice there is another small chip, up from the IS61LPS51236A-200TQLI chip that is also not on the MB.  There are also plenty of possible jumpers. Does anything else need to be added to make use of this chip? 

Also I notice a Record function (Utitity, third screen), but that is in the manual so not new.  Manual say you can record up to 2500 frames, then play them back.  But can you save that recording to the thumb drive?  I also see a Recorder function (Utility, forth screen).  It says can only be used in the Scan mode. That is for slow scans > 100ms, so kind of doubt the memory chip has anything to do with it.
