I have built my own Smoke Absorver & Filtering for Soldering, the reason why is because i don't wan't to spend 1000 EUR in a proper solution, i have spent many hours working on it and developing. Almost all error free still it took some days.
Bill of materials was not cheap, it was arround 400 to 500 eur, also because i decide to not spare and buy quality motor, tubes and parts. Also i need a powerfull unit because i don't want something taking my space and on the way of my working area. That way i can say it suck solder fumes up to 13cm away from head with a 3.40M from box to head.
Take in account the price is also high because i order everything from different stores, so postage from every item have a good impact...
All labor time was from me, but if paied it will match a comercial product price easily.
My project consists in:
There are many photos of every step, so i will not post them all here, instead you can navigate the album here:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/PTRTECH/photos/?tab=album&album_id=337728380044675(Login Not Required)Results are:
suck every fume up to 10cm from head at middle speed (Audible good for me)
suck every fume up to 13cm from head at max speed (Turbine airplane noise, fun but not for long ^^)
My microscope center is at 8cm from the absorver head, so it is in a good range, but head distance can be ajusted when needed
Also i have cut and placed a cheap carbon filter at the absorver head (The round black) it will protect some tiny components and light materials from beeing sucked in, and also gives some style, seens like a blackhole
When i seal the air entrance the motor will sofucate and no air come out of the vent, which is good, meaning no air leakage.
Ambient air is now good as no working situations and air purifier no longer fires up (No particles detected in air)
Put my nose at out vent is fresh and don't smells bad
Electronic side are simple and works well, it have the working time been on, pressure inside box, air quality sensor, temperature, humidity, motor ON/OFF pedal optional.
Able to external re-program using a serial programmer.
Electronics are optional, if you need to spare some money skip this, not required, just for fancy! Dumb On off absorver will do same thing as this
Also i turn ON and OFF using a remote socket so i don't need to reach box or try by foot toogle the switch.
So i can call it a success, i tried my best and maybe the filtering i have inside is not the best and proper, i'm not a specialist on that, but it can be improved since there are some empty space remaining, at first i think in put a ERSA Filter from their absorvers as that is a proper solution and as bonus is square mounted, but the price is a bit high, of course depending on thier lifespan which i'm not aware.
Hope this can help someone in a good direction.
