Small parts storage Add-A-Drawer (Integrated Plastics)
« on: October 11, 2021, 07:40:31 am »
These Add-A-Drawer bins were very popular at pretty much every company that I worked at over the last 40 ish years. It looks like they don’t make them anymore so I have been searching for some used ones or a source for something similar that is available.

What makes these really handy is that each bin shell interlocks with the others, so you can make any sized array and simply add a column or row as needed, or make odd shapes for example I have used these along the wall in a closet under a stair case so the bins follow the contour of the stringers.

There was a decent supply of these at a surplus shop in Toronto, however the last time I inquired about purchasing a small batch, the owner stated someone came in a purchased every last one, he did have a few of the larger 4” bins however I was looking for the smaller 2” x 2.5” bins.

So does anyone have a source?

I'd be interested in the 4' add-a-drawer.  Can you give me the contact details for the Toronto Surplus Outlet please?

A1 Electronics on North Queen, either Glen or Jane can help you. Really cool place to visit if your into electronics.

If you do a google search and then click on see photos you can get a feel for the place. Great place to go when you need some oddball part and don't want to wait.

Agreed, Add-A-Drawer are the best, but unfortunately Integrated Plastics that made them are out of business

Wish I could find more, I do keep an eye on Craigslist/FB Marketplace

Googling for Integrated Plastics Add-A-Drawer comes up with listings labeled "discontinued".
However, I found a somewhat similar product:

There are other manufacturers make products called "Add-A-Drawer" which are drawer assemblies to install under a desk, not useful for your application.

Unfortunately; no one picked up the reigns and ran with their old products (which were superb)

Similar ish chinese version: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/174610130713
But the drawers are hard plastic.

Some of the replacement drawers can be purchased: https://www.staniosindustrial.com/Akro_Mils_20702_Drawer_for_10124_126_144_p/05a20702.htm
So you could do that and 3D print the outer part. But at that price, hard to say if its worth it.

Sometimes the Craigslist gods just smile on you.  I was looking for more IP Add-A-Drawers; and stumbled on this, complete with the contents... "price FREE"

-- I gave him $40, told him to buy some beer, or donate to the Red Cross for Ukraine/Syrian refugees.
