Bitscope hardware-How can it be improved/updated?

I keep going back to the Bitscope site and looking to see if the design has been updated/improved. Apart from a AWG and new logic analser software the core design hasn't changed much.
It is meant to be an "OPEN" design. Does this mean anyone can take the hardware and improve it? Any thoughts?
