cable shears repair

I have two nice swanstrom shears, that i would like to repair. the design is similar to klein tools cable shears, with the following pivot joint

fortunatly the pivot joint is made of a copper/brass material.

do you think that getting the brass/copper pivot hot with a micro torch and deforming with a solid hit will work to get rid of looseness?
