Found two new JBC Stations (Control Units) but no prices
« on: March 06, 2014, 05:57:04 pm »
I found this new JBC Catalog today (only in German at the moment)
which shows two new Soldering Stations:
http://www.jbctools.com/pdf/brochures/catalogue_deu11.pdf

The DD-2C for two Tools (page 14) and the DT-2A for four Tools (page 16).
But I can't find the prices within the internet :-//
So anyone has a link or a price list with prices for the two new Control Units?

Stations with color display first appeared on the JBC website mid of last year. The first pictures didn't look as refined as the ones in the current catalogue you posted. But they are still not available.

So my guess is that they were developing them for some time, improved the design after the first prototypes were made and plan to release the final product soon.

Don't know how a color display or touchscreen will help you with soldering though. I have the previous generation with just the mono text lcd and I have all the control over my station I want.

But the new motorized brass wool cleaner looks like something that could really help.

The same as a Mansory will help you with driving,
the display is only for the show.
But the DT-2A seems to be the successor of the DM-2B

At the moment I am looking for a new soldering station,
which will either be a Vario2 from ERSA or the new JBC DT-2A

But if the JBC will be a lot more expensive, compared to the Vario2
which costs around 1450$ with one Tool, I will take the ERSA.

I'd say go for the JBC. Maybe you can get a discount for the to-be-replaced-soon DD-2B. As you say - the display is just for show.
I tried both the ERSA i-con and JBC systems for two weeks in parallel. The JBC won hands down: The heat transfer and regulation is better, more cartridges/tips available (although ERSA has improved that a bit since my comparison), tip/cartridge change is faster and the stations and stands are more solid.

Auch als Deutscher wähle ich nicht das deutsche Produkt, sondern das spanische wenn es besser ist...

Hi,

I'm doing the same comparison right now and can't support your point. I'd choose ERSA over JBC. :)

Looks like the models changed a bit:

Would be nice if I could swap my DI control unit for one of these new models.. but's kinda far out for my hobby :)

Hi,

I used to think of ERSA as good company, but we have like 15 i-CON 1's and 2's in our lab/shop and they are dropping like flies. Mainly the control units and accelerometers inside handpieces. Failure modes included bringing the tip th orange-hot condition. I think out of those 15 stations about 3 are BER and, another 2 are dead and most of the functional ones have been repaired in the past.
I love the smell of FR4 in the morning!

i think the new gui is better if you set it up once and be done with it its pretty good on the old monochrome display with that insanely looking menu, but still far superior to the weller wd units.... jes who made that menu system with the controls...

New display nice  but the handpiece/cartridge is where it counts.
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.
