MESR-100 ESR cap checker
« on: March 01, 2016, 05:44:43 pm »

Hello

I was thinking about getting a MESR-100 cap tester.
I see the newest model is to use a true sine wave generator.
Before I buy could someone tell me if this model could
check caps that are leaky.
Also could some let me know if there is an ESR meter that can also
display the caps capacity. This is needed as ESR meters
can only check caps which are 0.5uf or higher.

Note those little low cost dose it all $25 greenLCD devices seen on ebay are very much prone to errors.

Thanx in advance.

Hope Dave is able to do a one of his infamous full reviews on a new modal commercial ESR meter.

The ever popular esr cap tester is the Deree DE5000 on this forum. Look it up.

Thanyou nukie

I see this this is very well priced for all that it will do.
Looks like a full set version is offered which adds in a usb cable and CD.

I will buy one.

Thanx again, you saved me $80

My Deree  LCD is a little dim so it really depends on luck, but its extremely feature rich for $$$ and the measurement capabilities exceeds the needs of a DIY hobbiest its really a product intended for professional use.

Anyway heres deree vs mesr post doesnt really compare anything but when you disassemble the MESR-100 and realise the homemade quality you will question the cost of ~$50 delivered vs the professional product Deree makes.

Deree is worth every single money if you can afford it. If not just buy those ~$20 barebone PCB kit, search for esr meter. I am sure they are more or less the same as the MESR. MESR to me is overpriced with a fancy display.

Just to raise your level of confidence in Deree, it is also rebranded and sold by IET labs. They have a newer model 6000.
