Hakko 936 Transformer
« on: June 02, 2017, 12:33:53 am »
Anyone know what the specs are for the 936 transformer?

Mine went out.  I have a 24V, 100VA on hand I can replace it with, but dont know if it
will work or not. I looked on Hakko's website, but they of course do not list the specs on there,
and it has been discontinued.

100VA should be more than sufficient, although it might not fit in the case. The original 936 is 60W, clones may be anywhere from 45W to 75W.

Thanks for the reply amyk. Size is a good point. I will have to check that when I get back home.

Hakko specs the 936 at 50W. No data on Hakko B2012 transformer  :(
But soldering stations are not 100% duty-cycle, so I think some manufacturers undersize transformers a bit.

I usually repair power transformers, they're just copper wire and a thermal fuse. Usually bad solder joints or flux corrosion.
