Hi guys. Total nub here, lmk if I should post elsewhere.

With the grand plan of putting one of these straight onto a new PCB design, I got a couple LCD breakout boards off ebay, this one to be precise: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display-module-1-8-inch-1-8-TFT-ST7735S-128x160-51-AVR-STM32-ARM-8-16-bit/112016021626 and tore down one that arrived broken (see attached).

And unlike the Adafruit version, I dont see any level shifters, just a 5v -> 3v3 power supply.

Which makes me wonder, are these really 5v tolerant?

I found a couple LCDs what look like identical pinouts on the standard Chinese sites:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-8-1-77-inch-Color-TFT-LCD-Display-Module-128x160-Display-ST7735-SPI-Serial-interface/32891270732.html

So my question is, where do I get a datasheet? Or how do folks normally source LCDs?

The markings are

HR H17702FPC-A (flex pcb)
H17702-B

Look at ST7735S datasheet. Maximum I/O voltage supply is 3.7V.

Awesome, I didn't even think to look at the controller datasheet. Thank you!

Hi

you could also have a look at https://www.buydisplay.com/, have used them in a few projects, and can deliver from 1pcs and up.
they are china based and they are usually reasonable quick with shipping.

for their 1.8" look at https://www.buydisplay.com/default/tft-display/1-77-1-8-inch-1

they have data sheets for all their displays, and some SW examples are also quite frequent.
