Yeah, seems like he's just been milking this one for more than a decade now. I can remember when it first came out it was hot stuff.

It says a lot for the design and software if it can be sold over such a long period of time. Kudos to the chap who created it  It suggests he was way ahead of his time.

There are other small companies selling LA's and I often receive news from one of them, IKALogic. It seems they have to keep releasing new designs to maintain market interest in their products. That appears the way anything PC connected develops these days. It mimics the PC hardware industry that keeps reinventing itself with new hardware.

I still own an Intronix 34. It has served me well. It did have an issue with a couple of channels but thankfully they turned out to be nothing more than two fractured solder joints.

I still get people wanting to buy it from me. Must say something about its reputation amongst those who use LA's I suppose. I also own the ZeroPlus Logicport 128 and a Hantek 32 channel LA. They all, offer different features and have their own limitations. The Intronix Logicport holds its own against them though. I do not want a huge HP LA taking up bench space, more capable though it may be. Compact PC linked LA's are great for casual users wanting a nice compact, but still capable LA tool.

The guy that designed this was in his garage at the time.
He has sold tons of them.
He was working on an Analog version for a long time but obviously never shipped anything.
With the old Cyclone FPGA, it would seem obvious to upgrade the design to more modern and cheaper parts with lots more memory.
Then we would all buy another one!
I am disappointed he has not taken it farther.

With all the competition? The creator of the logic port has had a good run but nowadays it would be difficult to compete with what other USB based logic analysers out there.

I disagree.  Most of the current products are simple toys, 20MHz or less.  I would not buy any of them.  That's not competition.
Where is a 200-500MHz competitor today that works as good as this product?  Remember that simple to use and configure is an important aspect.
Adding more memory would be a significant upgrade.  New Cyclones make this a trivial exercise for the guy that designed this one.
The cost would also be much lower since the parts count is so small.

500Ms/s will only do you any good if the probing system has a high enough bandwidth and flying leads aren't going to do that. Besides that both Salea and Ikalogic have devices with samplerates over 100Ms/s. I have used the Intronix logic port myself and the short memory is annoying to say the least. Depending on the architecture implementing longer memory may be much harder than you'd expect and a less than trivial change which is unlikely to pay for itself.

So I know its bad practice to reply on an old thread like this but its the exact discussion I was looking for.

Has anyone found a modern replacement for the Introix LogicPort? it is a great device but the software is far out of date compared to others.

The IKA SP1000G is one of the few LA's that can do 34 ch, but the price is far to high.

Are there any low cost 34ch LA's on the market?
