Mantis Classic - glass filters
« on: December 06, 2017, 11:35:00 pm »
Hi folks,

I've just been gifted a "well loved" Vision Engineering Mantis - what appears to be the old Classic model. It has 2x and 4x objectives (though naff all working distance on the 4x, sadly) fitted, and even came with the table mount. Screwed into the bench rather nicely.

Sadly the two glass filters are broken. They look like CTB filters - tungsten to daylight balancing filters - but in an odd shape.
Does anyone have a couple of spares knocking about, or know of a spares source?

I'm also toying with the idea of modding the illuminators - make up a custom light with both UV (for checking conformal coatings) and white (for everything else) LEDs. Has anyone gone down this road? Looks like it'd be easy to bring a few wires out of the switches.

Cheers,
Phil.
