Hi all-

So I have an Andonstar ADSM302 Microscope, it's great but I need considerably greater magnification.  I would take ten times more if possible (and affordable).  But I have no idea what's available and what companies/models to consider.  Suggestions?  Thanks...

+1, I think?

But what do you consider affordable?

What are you trying to look at? What working distance do you need?

For a 100mm working distance, Targono's best video microscope maxes out at 129X, half of what Andonstar implies using the ADSM302's built-in, 5 inch screen. Something is falling short, for you, but what?

In PeDre's excellent thread about the Andonstar ADSM 302, the max magnification is found to be around 138x (at the pixel level in the captured image), which is at 50 mm working distance.

How much magnification do you need? What is it you need to be able to see?

Thank you for the link. I reckon about half the 138X is empty magnification, assuming a 1920x1080 monitor and a 2304 x 1536, 3.2 megapixel sensor.

Including monitor size in the magnification isn't a good idea, in my opinion.

What counts is resolving power, and it seems this microscope will be able to resolve details down to between 3 and 4 μm. Digital magnification of the image doesn't improve on that. You could put the image up on a 100" screen, and thereby get a lot more magnification, but you could still not see any more details.
