But does the DSO-X 2000 series have a Gaussian response?

Many (if not all) sub 1GHz Agilent scopes have Gaussian response, probably. http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/5989-5733EN.pdf

Here is the rise time measurement of my scope. Note the overshoot. According to this my scope has bandwidth of 0.35/3.8E-9 = 92.1 MHz. That's OK. And I found that there is a protective glass on the LCD display. :-+ Which scopes have it?

Bad news, the 30-day trial has expired. I tried loading new firmware, but it didn't help at all.
Even Secure erase or Factory default didn't bring back the Start 30-day trial feature.

Huh, that IS pretty cool. I wonder how it compares in performance to the VGA/LAN module connectivity. Ill play with it when I have a chance.

Well that was lame. Downloaded the latest version (obviously) and installed it on my PC, gave it the IP address assigned to my MSOX2024A and it couldnt find it. Then I let it search for instruments and every time it tries that it crashes the whole program out. Guess for now Ill be sticking with my VGA/LAN card as I have no desire to use USB to connect to it. Too far away from my computer.

So I installed the Agilent Oscilloscope Mobile. At first, you must turn on the Agilent connection expert.

The Agilent Oscilloscope Mobile works, but  :palm: when I have no Android device (tablet, smartphone or similar) this program is quite useless. No possibility to control my scope only with PC!!

Oh see I was unclear on that! I couldnt tell if you would use it without having an Android device or not. Guess this was a waste of an install for me as well. Glad I got the VGA/LAN card. Im an iOS user anyway.

There seems to be a bug in the Serial button led. It doesn't glow when I push the serial button and switch on the Serial decode function... But the LED is OK, it glows when I turn on the scope and all the leds are lit for a while.
On the other hand, I didn't find any bug that causes the scope to freeze or even crash. The firmware is well-done.

The buttons will only light up when the knobs nearby are active for that feature. For digital, they control the position of the channels, for math they control scale/offset, same for reference. But serial has no use for the knobs, so the light stays off.

Oh, the serial button does switch the serial decode function, but the led does not glow! I had the 30-day trial version that enabled all the licensed features.

I read these specifications and I thought hey, that's great, I will get 5 years warranty for my scope...

InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series oscilloscopes bought on or after
January 1, 2013, have a 5-year warranty.
I bought the scope in April 2013. from Farnell. The purchase was mediated by Farnell partner for Czech Republic www.rothsware.cz

But when I entered the model and serial number to the WarrantyStatus here, I got the result on attached picture...
So my scope has 3 year warranty although it was bought in April 2013.  :palm: :scared: That's quite funny, isn't it?

And yes, I wrote an email to Agilent and they answered that this https://service.home.agilent.com/infoline/public/single-lookup.aspx is valid and I really have only 3 year warranty. But  :palm: it's not that bad...
With a good instrument, you don't need any warranty.  :D ;)My father bought a second hand Hameg HM504-2 analog scope five years ago. There was only a six months warranty. The scope is OK till today and it's not going to break up. No problems with encoders or buttons...
But don't believe the Agilent advertisements.  :-- If I bought the funny and obsolete Tek DPO2000, I would probably get a true 5 year warranty.

The screenshot shows that according to Agilent, it was shipped in 2012. I'm guessing this is when it was shipped to the distributor. You might have to register with proof of purchase to prove the actual purchase date. I would ask Agilent and/or the distributor.

The lady from Rothsware told me that she knew nothing about the 5 year warranty and Farnell gives you only 1 year warranty.
The true problem is that when you buy something from Farnell, you don't know, how old it is... This is the back sticker of my scope. The 1225 means that it was manufactured in 25th week of 2012.
And yes, if i bought Rigol DS2000 or GDS-2000A today, I might get a unit from the beginning of production... That would not be good.

I wish the channels of my DSOX2002A were more clearly marked with colors, maybe like this DS1000CA scope...
Even the channel LEDs should be different as on this Iwatsu DS-5500. http://www.iti.iwatsu.co.jp/en/pdf/ds-5500_e.pdf

The Agilent page states date of purchase, not date of manufacture. Unless the statement is somehow limited to North America, you should be able to get that five year warranty. It may very well that they use the date of shipment to their distributor for warranty, unless you send them a proof of purchase. Try talking to Agilent support and see what they have to say. Maybe they can adjust the date if you email them a scan of the Farnell/Rothsware invoice.

Yes, the WaveJet is an earlier iteration and has the coloured buttons/leds and it works very well. The DS-5500 is better in that it has separate controls for each channel, unfortunately it is not sold in Europe, only Japan, most of the rest of Asia and South Africa I think.

It seems that each scope has advantages and disadvantages from the useability perspective it is a pity that none of them combine everything.

Good news. The Agilent customer support from Austria sent me an email that my warranty status will be changed from 3 to 5 years in a few days. I will see in a week.
EDIT: Now I have the five year warranty.

I ordered DSO-X2024A a couple of days ago. Distributor in Slovakia told me that the warranty is really 5 years, registration on Agilent.com is required. Nearest warranty/post-warranty service and calibration centre is in Germany.  Shipping expenses are paid by seller for devices covered by warranty, post-warranty costs are yours... incl. c.a. 200€ for basic diagnostic of the fault.

Anyway... congrats on the purchase.

The scope was delivered packed in these two paper boxes. Good packaging is necesssary when you use Czech Post...  O0 ^-^
EDIT: I wonder why my DSOX2002A scope was not packed in a plastic bag... But who cares. The plastic bag does not protect against bumps...
See this GW Instek packed in plastic bag.
