Need help identifying a soldering nib
« on: January 03, 2018, 06:17:21 pm »
Good Morning, afternoon or evening depending on where you're from,

*go to the next * for my actual questions - the story hehe.

Recently I've been getting into electronics with this new hobby or for some even life I have purchased some ''beginning'' crappy soldering irons they obviously didn't last me long because they were pretty  :phew: to use so i began contemplating on buying a new proper one.

On a sunday i saw a portable soldering iron for 10Euros i was like... might aswell give it a shot if its bonkers ill just save up a bit and buy a proper one. The one i bought for 10 euros at an local ALDI actually worked out pretty well for me it was small, had a battery so i could use it around the house or cars/model aircraft ( even used it at school where i study avionics for aerocraft shh dont tell the teacher) Sadly afther using it for a while the soldering nib/tip obviously weared off it usses some kind of propriatary nib/tip.

**My question is does someone here know how i can obtain these Nibs? Pics:

If one does not know where to find these i would also be fine with a entirely new portable soldering tool with standard nibs.

Thank you for your time  :-+

No offense, but it didn't occur to you to google the name of the vendor (Grizzly Tools GmbH), printed right on the label?!? I did, and the first result is their homepage, the second one their online store. 10 secs of clicking and boom, here's the page with spare parts for it: https://grizzly-shop.de/LK-Parkside-PLKA-36-A1-283231_1

If you are familiar with this already, you can ignore the advice.

After each soldering, it helps to coat the tip with some solder just before or after you turn the iron off. The same could be done when taking breaks as well.

This can help the tip to last much longer, as it has a protection layer against oxidation. As for cleaning (just before the soldering), you can use brass shaving type of tip cleaner, or a wet sponge, or even both. Just make sure that the iron is not left on for a while without any solder on it.

For me, those tips have significantly improved tip lifetime of very cheap soldering irons.

Actually I haven't thought about this at all I've yet to have anything break for me in this lifetime ( only 21 ) that was a quality item and i wanted to get fixed instead of replaced. Not that this item i was talking about is quality haha...

But i shall take your post as a tip for future reference thanks again.
