Phillips/Fluke PM2811 power source

Hello members,

i bought PM2811 for very reasonable price, so there are some photos. There is a small viciousness. Unit was bought from USA so it was set as 115V voltage. I quickly read this topick https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/eevblog-755-fluke-pm2812-psu-ebay-score/ and i set jumper to 220V position. I closed unit, power it up... blown both fuses, main circuit braker and every circuit breaker in series  

So what happened ? I take out power supply, checked all the components, all OK... then i saw it...

How my Phillips die

I have been charging 4pcs of 18650 as usual (4pcs TP4056 parallel) with PM2811. I have been checking a current whole time. Everything was normal. I went make some cofee and after while "there is something in the air", i ran to my room and room was full with smelly fume. I looked at the batteries and two of them were around 80°C degrees. So i took them on my balcony in case they want to catch a fire. Power supply was turn off so i knew there is a issue more than hot batteries. I opened the enclosure and i didn't saw any damage. There was a stinky brown liquid around input EMC filter and everithing was clear - capacitor in EMC filter goes to silicon heaven. So i carefully open it (with hammer and chisel of course) and i was correct.

But i have no idea what happened. Batteries have 4,02V so they are not shorted out. Why they went so hot ? Current limit was set to 4A and TP4056 for 1A.

Anatoliy,

It seems you've made many mods to your PM2811. Have you documented them. The one I'm especially interested in is your replacement of the EL backlight with LEDs. I have yet to figure out how to safely unsnap the keyboard/display board from the plastic clips holding it in place.
