Recent score/purchase

Yesterday I got a bunch of eval boards and a Hakko FM-204 with the desoldering lead, a solder feeder, electric tip cleaner and a few misc. stands. I found a soldering tip and realized that it might be used in place of the desoldering iron portion. Is that possible? Or do I need to pick up the soldering lead for this thing too? Two full boxes of random prototyping and eval boards. Out of my mind with electron lust right now lol There were a few dinkey soldering kits too I'd like to put together, that's why I ask. The tip is probably not one I'd use everyday.

Are you talking about sticking a soldering heater into the desoldering irons heater socket? I don't think it was intended to be used like that.

The HAKKO FM-2027 is the common iron that is supported on this station, you will need a different holder for it as well, so something like the FM2027-04 kit.
