Recommend me interesting or funky new ICs to purchase
« on: March 28, 2015, 03:29:22 pm »
Please recommend interesting ICs to purchase.

I'm doing some component ordering and would like to add some interesting ICs for playing around with. I've already included a PSOC device. What other interesting devices are around? Anything that is new and multipurpose or can do unusual audio/video things is especially interesting.

List:
Cypress PSOC
ST VNP10N07 VNI8200XPTR STC03DE220HV
Actel ?

Protected transistors? Current sense transistors or FET's.

I would recommentd something from top-range Actel's stuff. Just throw 5 or ten of different chips into the shopping basket, you can always play with them later.
Very useful and interesting things:)

6502 or z80, some SRAM, 3 to 8 decoders,  some eeproms, 74ls156. Build a computer.

OK so not quite new or funky.

Not a bare chip but some cheap HDMI splitters are surprisingly hackable.

There are many legitimate uses ranging from fixing "compatibility" issues with some displays to recording PS3 gaming. Also a great workaround for a HDMI receiver that adds too much lag to the video.
