Requesting suggestion, new rotatory encoders for DS1052E
« on: September 13, 2012, 06:33:16 pm »
There is a few threads on the actual technique about replacing them. Rather, I was wondering if you had a suggestion on the approach. I'd like not to loose my scope for too long, especially since I just got my new/first Arb. Waveform Generator and would kinda suck to not have a scope to mess with it. Suppose I should just replace the encoder (time base one)? I bought it from Saelig, and if they hold to their three year warranty, I still have a year left on the clock (bought in 2010, can't believe it). I mean it still -mostly- works, if I am very careful I can get it to go +timebase...

I think I am tempted to just open it up... I mean I am an engineer... even with Dave's videos I have the desire to take it apart.

Anyway, just curious of other ideas of approach.
