Sample book for through-hole/axial components?
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:31:02 pm »
So far I managed to design a few circuits using only a few components, but as I am starting less trivial projects I need to get lots of basic components. For now I would like to minimize space usage, so I was wondering if it could be a good idea to use some sample book for through-hole/axial components? I saw many SMD component sample books on Ebay, but I am not sure if there are books that could work well with through-hole/axial components. Any idea/suggestion? Basically I am just looking for a space efficient way to deal with hundreds of different components without ending up wasting a lot of time searching for a given component value.

Thanks!

How about baseball card/trading card binder sleeves and then get a whole bunch of resistors (and other parts) on cut tape? Then you can label each pocket?

What for? Companies, like farnell dont have minimum order quantity, and the few times TH resistors are used, you can just order them and have them next day.

I live in Canada and shipping cost for a few components is prohibitive (shipping cost can easily represent 5-10 times the total cost of the items), unless I order from China, in which case I have to wait for a month...

Try Mouser, for Europe anything over 50 or 60€ is free shipping, so, make a project(dont rely on the cart to save things..) and just keep adding everytime you need something, when you are over the threshold, order it, its 3 days from USA to Europe, to Canada might be 1 day..
