Hello guys,

I am hoping someone here could help me decide which scope to get. (with 999$ us)

Here are the 2 scopes :

PROTEK 3120 ( 200MHZ, 1Gs/s, 7inch LCD, Made in Korea )

This Protek looks suspiciously like a Hantek/Tekway. Protek does a lot of badge-engineering, so this isn't surprising.

The GDS-1152A was reviewed by someone in this PDF http://welecw2000a.sourceforge.net/docs/Hardware/GW_Instek_GDS-1152A.pdf

sorry offtopic and will need more study on this.

The Instek, IMHO, is the least risky.  They have better support and build quality, they've been in business since the 1970s as Good Will brand.

Best Wishes,

if you decide to go with the Protek, it's too expensive. Pretty sure that's a Hantek DSO5202B  - if so a dealer here was selling it during Electronex last week for $445 ex-GST.

I wouldn't say the Instek scopes are built like a tank. They do make decent scopes though.

Hantek does not make the scopes for Protek.

Have a good day everyone :-)

I do not have the 150 Mhz version, but I do own a GDS-1102A-U (100 Mhz)

I would not say its built like a tank, but it does have a metal shell and feels quite sturdy.  Does not feel at all like cheap Chinese junk.

Support has been good.  I came across a bug in capturing data via the USB port onto a flash drive.  A few emails later, I had the latest firmware version and easy instructions on how to upgrade.  Bug was fixed.

If you have any questions about this model, I'll provide pictures or try to answer them the best I can.
