Trace Tool Debugger for ARM/Kinetis Cortex M
« on: December 18, 2014, 10:47:42 am »
Hi Guys,

We are after a trace debugger for the Kinetis Series of freescale processors...

Couple I have seen are the Segger J-Trace or the P&E Micro Tracelink:
https://www.pemicro.com/products/product_viewDetails.cfm?product_id=15320147

These things are best part of £1000 however.

Any other tools out there that do the same job for less, or anyone know where we could by a used system from?

Cheers in advance!

Matt

What's a trace debugger? Does it log the instruction stream in real time? How?

What kind of problem do you want to solve?
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

I have a couple of Keil ULINK2 left over from an exhibition, all boxed and unused.

Half list price, VAT invoice, ship anywhere etc etc...

I assume the OP is referring to Embedded Trace Macrocell - ETM which you normally don't get on the base model JTAG adapters.

For tracing, you'd need the ULINK Pro.
And some compatible software, which will ship only after you've paid the license using an extra mortgage.

Question: why do you think you'd need these fancy gadgets?

I also appear to have a unused Keil DS-5 PRO Edition FL software license on my desk as well... jaw droppingly expensive list price.

Considerably cheaper from me...

I'll just check, might have one hidden away under all the 'stuff' I seem to have  :-\
