Awwwww. Aren't those such cute oscilloscopes. Warms my heart just like this picture

I'm not saying we should kill all stupid people. I'm just saying that we should remove all product safety labels and let natural selection do its work.

Lol, not a Tek fan echen?

He does look very comfy, dozed off reading his copy of "101 Ways to Oppress Your People", no doubt.

Back on topic, that place looks cool, would definitely try and make a visit if I was in the area.

I'm wondering how an MDO4000B can anger someone...

Good point.  Although, in the 2+ years since it has been introduced, I've yet to hear from a customer that has needed a repair.  But of course, it has a full 3 year warranty, so they're all still under warranty.

I really like some of the tds color 4 channel portable models but the non-repairability (for us mortals) scares me away.

at this point, it seems that new tek gear is meant to be used by companies, 'expensed' and then sold for scrap.  the era of us non-corp home-lab folks using tek gear (and anything else that is new, really) seems to be coming to an end ;(  this is why I went with the 2465 series scope.  its said to be one of the last really repairable scopes from tek.

kind of a shame that the home lab users can't really have fun with the new gear.  repairs and cal costs are just too high.

The new ones I can afford. Hell, I would love a new MDO4000B. Best thing since sliced bread. But for a high school student, that $20k price is near impossible. The new TBS1000B series STILL has 2.5k of memory. If it had 1M and was priced at $400, that might have been better than the DS1052E. (Due to it being Tek and probably high quality)

and in 20 or 30 yrs when 'we' can afford to finally buy these, they STILL will be unrepairable.

from a point onward, I don't see how the used equipment market is going to survive.  maybe the older gear will grow in value (?)

MNaturally the Chinese will catch up and everything will be new. But then we will miss the good, old gear that was repairable and made with pride.
