what is the difference between T12 & T15 series tips
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:09:08 am »
Hi,
I would like to buy  Hakko FX-951 and a bunch of tips for it and I have found there is 2 series T12 and T15
what is the difference can I use them interchangeably for the FX-951

I have found on hakko website this:

T12 Series for Japan, Oceania, Asia & Other countries.
T15 Series for Nouth America & EU.

I am willing to buy the 220volts version of the hakko (I don't think the tips has anything to do with the operating voltage isn't it?)
so which one should I choose

if what I have wrote doesn't make sense for you or you think there is something wrong, please correct me, I am still beginner and what I know probably less than what you know

"Soldering Station (HAKKO FX-951), Soldering Iron (HAKKO FM-2028*),
*In only North America, soldering iron for HAKKO FX-951 is HAKKO FM-2027."

So it's a different iron and different tips. The voltage looks the same though.

Shows the difference in the irons.

A few people suggest that they are the same. But the main difference appears to be the tip selection which could be why they had to separate the different tips into different markets.

If you translate this in not so many words it also confirms my assumptions that they are the same tip.

According to that, t7 tips are different but T12 and T15 are compatible with the same handpieces and soldering stations.

See this / http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Soldering-Iron-Station-Temperature-Controller-Kits-for-HAKKO-T12-Handle/221971139290?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33843%26meid%3D695536a5feca4f68a8f91636823ec738%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D141740586441
short instruction:
Press and hold the encoder key, boot into the internal parameter settings:
P01 ADC reference voltage (obtained by measuring the TL431)
P02 NTC correction (by setting the temperature to the lowest reading on the digital observation)
P03 op amp input offset voltage correction value
P04 thermocouple amplifier gain
P05 PID parameters pGain
P06 PID parameters iGain
P07 PID parameters dGain
P08 automatic shutdown time setting 3-50 minutes

Hi know this is an old thread but somebody might find this of interrest :
According to hakko website: https://www.hakko.com/english/maintenance/topic_fm_fx_series01.html

The FX-951 the iron handle FM2028 and FM2027 is compatible so are the tip T12 and T15. The main difference for those tips seems to be the region the target for selling
