Nice Buddy. One of my favourite radios to work on.
Had exactly the same fault on a FT707 recently. These VFO PCBs are likely to have not gone through the flow solder process correctly in the first place. Common problem. And yes, cleaning the VFO buttons and the small relay on the same PCB, usually the first thing on the list :)

Thanks for sharing, as always. :-+

Thanks. These are fun to work on.   Bit of a pita to have to take things apart to fix these common problems but thats the way it goes with these.  I was not surprised to see the bad solder connections on this board.

I connected the antennas to this rig after the video and had a blast on 20 and 40 meters. Was geting some good contacts then a station from Italy came back.  :-+

Thanks for watching.

Yes I have worked station in the UK quite often.  I am on the east coast of North Carolina. 80 miles from the coast.  I have better luck working UK than I do west coast of US.
Will have to see if we can hook up one day.
