Can somebody help me to identify this component
« on: June 17, 2016, 09:50:17 pm »
I have a problem with an IFR 3414 signal generator and believe the issue is with a component identified as IC64, MCL 1 138, JYM-4551-1 (image attached). Its possibly an RF relay from around 2002. Despite having a quite thorough internet search, still no idea.
Anybody know what this part is? A datasheet would be very helpful.
Thank you.
Chris

Looks awful close to this

maybe it's a custom part. What signals go in and out from there?

Hi Alex,
Many thanks for the datasheet - it was a great clue! The mixer is now confirmed as functioning correctly, 860 MHz mixed with 860.25MHz to 1235 MHz giving 250KHz through 375MHz output. I am debugging using a 200MHz 'scope and could not see the h.f. signals when probing around. Just guessed the device was a relay from its shape as the low band of the generator was not switching correctly. I have now traced the fault to a biasing problem on a Darlington pair buffer.
Great fun debugging with just a block diagram and no schematic.
If anyone out there has a schematic for a Aeroflex/Cobham IFR3410 series generator, a copy would be greatly appreciated.

I'd also greatly appreciate a copy as I have a 3413 that has low output, overheats and displays 'unlevelled'. I think the problems with mine are limited to the pushpull final amplifier so if there's anything I can help with by checking against mine, feel free to ask.

hi its4Chris & CJay,

I also have a broken Aeroflex IFR 3416 ( 6 GHz Signal Generator ) of the 3410 series.
Am looking for the Service & Maintenance manuals (Aeroflex had them all on CD-ROM's & print).

My issues are very similar to CJay's (No RF Output,  ERROR # 522).

Would appreciate contact with you both to put our heads together for repair of these Sig Gen's.

thanks

Aeroflex will supply the manuals but they're *expensive* and I don't believe they include schematics, they're just module level replacement manuals. (I would be grateful if someone could prove me wrong on that though) so I don't think they're worth having if you need to repair an item.

Hi,

I to have a 3413 that needs some work. Did you guys ever fix your units?
Schematics would be helpful, I'm currently trying to find my way using the 2025 maintanance manual.

Nope, the parts I *think* I need are covered by ITAR and the UK company with stock of them won't sell them to me.
