China lands Chang'e-4 on the far side of the moon
« on: January 03, 2019, 10:29:12 am »
China succsesfully landed Chang'e-4 on the far side of the moon, it will be interesting to see what see what the low frequency, 0.1-40MHz, spectrometer (spectrum analyser) picks up or doesn't. Not exactly sure how 0.1-40MHz is a useful part of the radio spectrum for radio astronomy but at least they can hear Jupiter every now and then.

Forgot to add, they have a relay satellite, Queqiao (‘Magpie Bridge’), in orbit around the second Earth-moon Lagrange point beyond the moon. Another first for China. https://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-news/change-4-probe-heads-to-the-lunar-farside/
