Hello ALL,

I would like to install a discone antenna for radio listening on HAM and free frequencies (433, 860) on the same pole of the DVB-T antenna (the only place I can install it)
Unfortunately It's very difficult to install another dedicated cable for it.

I'm not a RF guy, but I wonder - since it's only receving - if I must/can use some kind of mixer to mix the signal captured by the two antennas and keep using the existing 75R TV cable at the same time.

I guess in this case the discone should have a band stop filter for the TV signals to avoid signal canceling due to phase opposition of the signals.

I know that a shared cable is a potentially unwanted solution, but I've not other choices (indoor antenna or TV-shared antenna).

Thanks in advance for any suggestion/tip!

Yes, you need some kind of filter to keep the signals from one antenna reaching the other one, both at the antenna side and at the receivers side.
But what makes me wonder more, a discone for short wave signals? The height should be 1/4 of the wavelength of the lowest frequency you want to use it for so that gets out of hand very fast.

You're right, discone and SW doesn't works fine. I listen also HAM (140MHz) and license free frequencies (430/860), so at the moment I have an indoor discone, so I used that term for the antenna. Nevermind. Post title corrected.

I know that a shared cable is a potentially unwanted solution, but I've not other choices (indoor antenna or TV-shared antenna).

Any antenna is better than no antenna, and an outside antenna is usually much better than an inside antenna. You're only receiving, so just use the ubiquitous 75-Ohm splitter, and if practical equal length cables between the splitter and the two antennas -- I'm presuming one will be above the other on the same pole.

Interaction isn't as big a deal as it's made out to be; just try it.
