ERASynth user experience
« on: September 07, 2018, 03:11:23 pm »
There are no known virtual space like forum or group regarding above title,
only one topic here -> https://www.eevblog.com/forum/crowd-funded-projects/erasynth-open-source-rf-signal-generator-request-for-feedback/25/
and
Git place here -> https://github.com/erainstruments

Any other?
User experience?
Alternative SW interfaces?
Or the number of sold units are not enough to be supported by community?

I have one of these units and it is useful.  However, I have the following criticisms:

1. While jitter performance is excellent, harmonic distortion is significant.  Use of an external filter is often required (in my applications).
2. EraSynth uses a non-standard programming API.  I would have preferred the programming API be based on SCPI.  With the current firmware, the unit cannot be conveniently detected and controlled like (most) other standard test equipment using the National or Keysight VISA libraries.

Thank you.
Agree on both 1. & 2.
I am using only command line over the USB and virtual 232 interface because
the web command firmware is still not fully functional even after firmware upgrade.

I have a Nexus 7" tablet near my electronics bench.  A bookmarked ink on its desktop to the EraSynth provides a handy user-interface to the instrument.

BUMP

So far no firmware update. Even development branch is quiet.
Here still forced to use only via terminal commands...

The only recent update is data sheet  :-//
