Favorite caps, inductors for broadband DC block, bias-tees
« on: December 09, 2016, 03:24:18 pm »
I am wondering what the best approach to getting a better collection of capacitors and inductors for this critical area would be, that didn't have a lot of parts I would never use. As far as inductors Ive had good luck with coilcraft but they have been parts from random SMD parts collections. So I rarely have exactly what I have wanted.

Is it okay to pick, say ceramic chip capacitors out of my random parts by value? The problem with this is that I never know their GHz range RF characteristics and am not experienced enough to tell by eye what they are. I guess what I am saying is I would like to get a few often used parts in moderate quantity and am looking for tips as to what those favorite often used parts might be? I am basically an SWL/satellite listener/future ham/non-professional
