dielectric type... for increased mating cycles?

usually used to displace water that will condensate in the connector over time.

i mean, will it decrease thread ware? and is it ok to use for like ku band stuff?

Haven't heard of anyone doing this - I'd imagine it would change the impedance of the line due to the grease filling up any air voids. Having said that, connectors used at Ku band (SMA, N, TNC) don't have air voids so this may not be an issue. Someone with access to a VNA and expendable cables/connectors could try it out?

Also, the limits placed on mating cycles are due mostly to spring tension on the leaves of female connectors. They will give a low resistance connection after the cycle limit, but there's no guarantee on decent VSWR.

I remember having read a recommendations both to use pure vaseline and (prevailing) not to do this at all.
Did not apply specifically to any frequency band, though.
Of course, anything with more various ingredients will be worse. Some measurements might be a good idea.

oh I see. It's just that they make this horrible feel tightening... by my standards anyway. I wanted it silky smooth.
