You can pick up 60hz radiation noise with anything really, its just a question of how much gain the antenna will have at that frequency.
If you are interested in more, specific, ways to measure 60Hz, i.e. with performance similar to antenna performance that we are used to in higher bands, check out this website for some ideas on measurement.
http://www.vlf.it/This one is rather specific towards your goal ,but you can learn alot about lower frequency measurement from that website.
http://www.vlf.it/feletti/around50hz.htmlThis link is specifically oriented towards man made 60 hz fields.
Remember around powerlines everything will be in the near field region unless your really far away, so its better to think about it in terms of inductive coupling.
I calculated that you are operating in the
5,000,000 meter band, or the wavelength is 5000 km.
People also tend to use large ferrites for this job with alot of windings. With 60Hz simply connecting a floating oscilloscope probe with the grabber attachment on high scope gain will show it up well...
Can you be more specific to your goals?
